For the 1981-1985 Jeep Scrambler (CJ-8), Whiteline makes the Front and Rear Spring Eye and Shackle Bushing Kit. Order it as part number W73814. In the box: 12 bushings, 2 tubes, and grease. Placement: front and rear.
On a leaf-sprung vehicle the spring eyes and shackles pivot on bushings, and they take the movement every time the axle moves. Worn rubber lets the axle shift and clunk, and heavy loads speed that up.
