Drop Spindles for Trucks & SUVs

Drop spindles, also called lowering spindles, are the cleanest way to lower the front of a truck or SUV. A 2 inch drop spindle moves the wheel's mounting point higher on the spindle, so the truck sits lower while the factory springs, shocks and suspension travel stay exactly where the manufacturer put them. What Do Drop Spindles Do?

A drop spindle replaces the factory front spindle (steering knuckle) with one that has the wheel hub pin raised, usually by 2 inches. Because the wheel sits higher in relation to the control arms, the front of the truck comes down by that amount without compressing the spring or shortening the shock. Ride quality and suspension travel stay close to stock, which is why drop spindles are the first part most people reach for when lowering a truck.

Drop Spindles vs. Lowering Springs

Lowering springs and drop coils lower a truck by shortening the spring, which also uses up suspension travel and often calls for shorter shocks. Drop spindles lower the truck without touching the spring. Many lowering kits use both: a 2 inch drop spindle plus a 1 or 2 inch drop coil for a 3 or 4 inch front drop. If you only want a mild front drop that rides like stock, spindles alone are usually the answer.

What Else Do You Need?

Drop spindles lower the front only. To bring the rear down to match, pair them with rear shackles and hangers, lowering blocks or a flip kit, or choose a complete lowering kit that includes the front and rear parts together. Check wheel fitment before you buy: most drop spindles need a minimum wheel diameter, and some will not clear certain factory wheels. Each listing's notes show the wheel and brake requirements the manufacturer gives for that part. A front end alignment is needed after installation.

Will Drop Spindles Fit My Truck?

Spindles are specific to the truck, the years and the drivetrain. Most are made for rear-wheel-drive trucks; 4WD trucks use a different front hub and usually need a different part or a different way of lowering. Use the vehicle selector at the top of the page to see the drop spindles that fit your Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, C10, Ford F-150, Ram 1500, Tahoe, Yukon, Colorado, Canyon, Tacoma or other truck, and check the Drivetrain row on each listing before you order.
