For the 1996-1998 BMW 328i 3 Series (E36), Whiteline makes the Rear Differential Mount Bushing. The part number is KDT969. Included: 2 bushings, 2 tubes, an install guide, and grease. It goes on the rear of the vehicle.
The differential is hung from the chassis on bushings that are soft for comfort. Under hard acceleration and braking they let it rock, so power reaches the wheels a moment late and the rear end can feel loose. A firmer bushing holds the differential more steadily, which sharpens throttle response. The polyurethane used here deflects much less than the original rubber under the same load.
