The steering rack's pinion shaft passes through a bushing where it enters the housing. When that bushing wears, the shaft gets play and steering feel suffers. A new bushing takes up the slack. The listing note says it suits manual steering models. Polyurethane resists deflection far better than the soft rubber it replaces.

Expect a moderate job of about 2 hours. Get the car aligned once it is back on the ground.
