Owners of the 2006-2009 Subaru Legacy can fit the Whiteline Front Gearbox Linkage Selector Bushing Kit. Whiteline's note for this fit: Suits manual 5 speed models only. Order it as part number KDT957. It goes on the front of the vehicle. Chassis code: BL/BP/BM/BR. In the box: 3 bushings, 3 tubes, an install guide, and grease.
A manual shift is a mechanical message passing through several joints. Every bit of play in a joint delays the message, and the bushings at the selector are common culprits. Replacing them with firmer ones tightens the whole path. Polyurethane resists deflection far better than the soft rubber it replaces.
