Product Details
Made to fit the 1982 Mercury Cougar GS (Fox), the Front Lower Ball Joint from Whiteline. Order it as part number W53557. Placement: front. The listing names the GS trim. Application note: Standard Replacement. You receive 1 ball joint.
The lower ball joint is the pivot between the control arm and the steering knuckle, and the wheel turns and moves up and down on it. When it wears, it develops play that shows up as clunks, wandering steering, and uneven tire wear. A new joint takes up that slack.
Whiteline rates the install as difficult and lists about 1 hour. An alignment is required after installation. To go with it on the Cougar, see 16mm Adjustable Front Camber Bolts, Ball Joint Boot Kit, and Front Transmission Mount Bushing Kit.
