Product Details
This page covers the Whiteline Front Lower Ball Joint for the 1982-1983 Ford Mustang GL, GLX (Fox). Whiteline's note for this fit: Standard Replacement. The kit contains 1 ball joint. Order it as part number W53557. Trims named on the listing: GL and GLX. Position: front.
The lower ball joint is the pivot between the control arm and the steering knuckle, and the wheel turns and moves up and down on it. When it wears, it develops play that shows up as clunks, wandering steering, and uneven tire wear. A new joint takes up that slack.
Installation is rated difficult, with about 1 hour of work listed. Get the car aligned once it is back on the ground. Working on the same car? We also list Front Control Arm Lower Inner Rear Bushing, Rear Upper Control Arms, and 26mm Non-Adjustable Rear Sway Bar for the Mustang.
Features
- Play removed: Removes the play and looseness that worn factory joints develop.
- Geometry: Keeps alignment and geometry closer to where they should be.
- Serviceable: A grease fitting is included, so the part can be re-greased as it ages.
- Durable build: Durable materials stand up to high loads and constant suspension movement.
- Replacement joint: Restores steering precision and smooth articulation at the control arm.
