Product Details
Fitted to the 1981-1983 Ford Thunderbird Heritage: the Whiteline Front Lower Ball Joint. Placement: front. Chassis code: Fox. Included: 1 ball joint. Whiteline's note for this fit: Standard Replacement. Trim named on the listing: Heritage. Part number W53557.
The lower ball joint is the pivot between the control arm and the steering knuckle, and the wheel turns and moves up and down on it. When it wears, it develops play that shows up as clunks, wandering steering, and uneven tire wear. A new joint takes up that slack.
Expect a difficult job of about 1 hour. An alignment is required after installation. Other Whiteline parts we list for the Thunderbird: 16mm Adjustable Front Camber Bolts and Front Transmission Mount Bushing Kit.
Features
- Replacement joint: Restores steering precision and smooth articulation at the control arm.
- Geometry: Keeps alignment and geometry closer to where they should be.
- Durable build: Durable materials stand up to high loads and constant suspension movement.
- Play removed: Removes the play and looseness that worn factory joints develop.
- Serviceable: A grease fitting lets the part be serviced later.
