Product Details
Whiteline built the Front Lower Ball Joint for the 1980 Mercury Capri Ghia (Fox). Position: front. Application note: Standard Replacement. The part number is W53557. The listing names the Ghia trim. Included: 1 ball joint.
The lower ball joint is the pivot between the control arm and the steering knuckle, and the wheel turns and moves up and down on it. When it wears, it develops play that shows up as clunks, wandering steering, and uneven tire wear. A new joint takes up that slack.
Whiteline rates the install as difficult and lists about 1 hour. Plan on a wheel alignment afterward. Other Whiteline parts we list for the Capri: 16mm Adjustable Front Camber Bolts, Ball Joint Boot Kit, and Front Transmission Mount Bushing Kit.
Features
- Geometry: Keeps alignment and geometry closer to where they should be.
- Durable build: Durable materials stand up to high loads and constant suspension movement.
- Play removed: Removes the play and looseness that worn factory joints develop.
- Replacement joint: Restores steering precision and smooth articulation at the control arm.
- Serviceable: A grease fitting is included, so the part can be re-greased as it ages.
