The Bilstein steering damper for the 2000-2005 Ford Excursion takes the wander and shimmy out of the steering. Older trucks develop a nervousness through the wheel over rough pavement, and this settles it.

The monotube design is what sets Bilstein apart. A single high-pressure gas chamber keeps the oil from aerating, so the damping stays consistent on a rough road instead of fading as the unit heats up.
