Product Details

BC Racing DS Series Coilovers for the 2002-2006 Mini Cooper (RE16) blend street-tuned ride quality with track-ready adjustability, giving you more body control than any OEM damper without the harshness of a pure race kit. Every kit is extensively tested on the RE16 chassis and refined until it balances ride quality with performance — the reason Cooper coilovers from BC Racing are the best-selling adjustable kits in their segment worldwide.

DS Series kits pair a mono-tube damper with BC's proprietary digressive piston design — increased low-speed damping for flat corner entry, compliant high-speed response over expansion joints and potholes. The finished shock body is silver, visually distinct from the BR Series, and ride height is adjustable independent of spring preload. BC Racing takes pride in choosing spring rates and damper valving that balance comfort and performance — you never end up with the oversprung, harsh-riding kit some brands ship as their only option. Drivers who want to deviate from the factory setup can order Swift Springs, custom spring rates, and custom valving at checkout; BC will re-valve the dampers to match whatever you specify, a level of customization most brands reserve for their top-tier race kits.

BC Racing has been manufacturing adjustable coilovers since 2004 and is one of the most popular coilover brands in the automotive tuning industry for a reason: competitive pricing, deep customization, proven reliability, and a fully rebuildable damper design that lasts years instead of seasons. These Cooper coilovers arrive tuned for the RE16 chassis and ready to bolt in — no break-in period, no guessing at setup. Every kit ships with a 2-year manufacturer warranty, lifetime access to BC service parts (pistons, seals, shafts — no unit replacement required when it's time for a rebuild), and in-house tech support from both BC Racing and the Springrates team.

    BC Racing DS coilovers

A little back ground for my review, I have used many different brands of coilovers and have done everything from lowering springs on customer cars to custom built Coilovers for my track cars. I typically would not even consider using anything at this price point from the experiences that I have had in the past with low price point suspension parts. I am overall very happy with these especially at this price, The kit is complete, I didnt have to buy camber plates or drop links for the swaybars which is a value add, these parts dont scream quality like Ohilins or AST/MCS but look like they will hold up well. Making adjustments to rebound/compression actually works as this may seem like a given most cheap coil overs dont really do much when you adjust them and these actually do. I have not put them on a shock dyno or taken this car to the track yet but I think if you are looking for a coilover setup for something that is not a dedicated track car I would definitely consider these. They are not crazy stiff like most cheap things, stiff is junk these seem to have a spring rate that is well matched to the valving. With these adjusted just under half from full stiff they ride better than stock and are not bouncy at all. The rebound functions really well when weight transferring giving the car a very predictable transition, I'm still working on dialing them in but mid corner bumps are not concerning as these seem to deal with high speed compression or second bump fairly well. The…
