At 14.37 in. collapsed: The Bilstein B4 shock absorber is a universal-fit part, chosen on collapsed and extended length rather than a year-make-model lookup. Fabricators, restorers, and race teams buy these to suit a custom setup.

Bilstein invented the monotube gas damper and has built suspension in Germany since 1954. The same engineering goes into a universal part as into an OE contract, and it carries a limited lifetime warranty.
