H&R Lowering Springs
H&R lowering springs are the upgrade that started it all, and they're still the most popular way to lower a car properly. They bolt in over your factory dampers, close the wheel gap, and tighten how the car handles, without the cost or setup of a full coilover.
The H&R Lowering Spring Range
H&R doesn't make one lowering spring, it makes a range tuned to different goals. Sport Springs are the best-known, dropping most cars 25 to 40mm with progressive rates that stay comfortable enough to daily. OE Sport Springs are the gentler option, lowering the car less for a subtle stance and near-factory ride. Super Sport Springs go lower and firmer for a more aggressive look and sharper response, while Race Springs use stiffer rates aimed at consistent track surfaces rather than public roads.
Choosing between them comes down to honestly assessing where the car spends its time. If it's a daily that sees the occasional canyon run, Sport Springs are almost always the right answer. If you want the drop but not the firmness, look at OE Sport.
German Engineering That Holds Its Rate
Every H&R spring is cold-wound from high-tensile chromium-silicon steel in Germany, and that's the reason they don't sag the way cheaper springs do. We regularly see budget springs come in a year or so after fitting, sitting unevenly and handling worse than stock. H&R doesn't do that, which is why OEM tuning programs and motorsport teams keep specifying them.
Each set is also engineered for a specific chassis rather than adapted from a universal kit. The rates, free lengths, and diameters account for that car's weight distribution and suspension geometry, so the front-to-rear balance comes out right.
Lowering Springs or Coilovers?
Lowering springs are the simplest path: they bolt in over your existing dampers, need no adjustment, and give you the drop and the handling gain in one afternoon. Coilovers make sense when you want to set ride height yourself, corner-balance the car, or replace worn dampers and springs together. One thing worth checking before fitting springs to existing dampers is that your damper travel suits the drop, since a mismatch can wear them out early.
